Patio Heater.
The Patio heater, also called a Mushroom Heater is that well recognized heater type that is common on restaurant patios everywhere. Rental units are propane fueled and provide enough coverage for about 10sqft. These heaters are considered radiant, which means that they have no blower or fan and their heat is felt as it radiates from a burner surface, reflecting off the “mushroom” shaped lid to keep the heat directed down. Radiant heat does little to heat the air – instead, it acts like the sun, heating objects in range.
Patio heaters for rent from Apex are black in color and are designed to fit into a compact case for shipping. Each heater uses a 20lb tank of propane which will provide approximately 5-6 hours of use at full burn, providing 40,000BTU of heat. Fire regulations require that these heaters are only used in tents with at least 40% of the sides open (without sidewalls) for adequate ventilation. They are ideal for smaller back yard events, for localized heat at cocktail receptions, or a supplemental heat on larger projects.
Forced Air Heater.
The Forced Air Heaters available for rent provide an efficient means of heating the air inside a larger tent. Designed as a furnace for temporary use, these heaters provide enough heat for up to a 40’ x 40’ space. Larger spaces are heated using multiple units. Each heater is installed on the exterior of the tent with a diffuser or ducting carrying the warm air into the tent. With the use of the standard thermostat, the temperature in the tent can be controlled and maintained, avoiding overheating and saving on fuel costs. These heaters operate with a small fan (4amp, 120volt) that pulls air through the heater, past the heating element and into the tent. The air is heated indirectly, meaning that it is not part of the combustion process and therefore the air entering the tent is clean (no carbon monoxide). These heaters pass Fire Code even when the tent is fully walled. Each heater uses a 100lb tank of propane which will provide a minimum of 8 hours on full burn assuming continual heat (no thermostat shut off). Set at lower heat or in mild climates, a 100lb tank will last much longer. These heaters are idea for large reception events or any winter events needing significant heat. 80,000 and 170,000 BTU units available.
Algarve Electric Radiant Heater.
This electric radiant heater is designed for small space heat when propane heat is not allowed (due to moisture/ access issues). These individual unit heaters look very much like a small halogen lamp but have a heat bulb instead of a normal light bulb. Each heater is 1500watts and requires a dedicated circuit. They provide enough coverage for approximately a 10’x10’ space when mounted in the ceiling of a tent. The compact size and ease of use makes them ideal for difficult load-ins such a ski events on mountains. They also provide dry heat, a critical element for timing equipment or certain AV units.
Floor-stand Radiant Propane Heaters.
These heaters are designed for localized heat where public access is not an issue. They are portable, require no electricity and run extended periods of up to 15hrs on a single 20lbs tank. The front of the unit is a radiant grill that heats up and glows red hot – the reason these cannot be used in public traffic areas. Ideal for security tents, sampling booths and monitor/ mix positions, these floor-stand Radiant Propane Heaters are an economical, simple solution for localized heat. 25,000 and 40,000 BTU units are available.
